It was snowing this morning when I usually do my sitspot, so I popped round in the evening.
I was not really paying attention - messing around with my new camera and looking at the clouds when there was a sudden commotion as all four mallards, Bill, Ben, Donald and Betty arrived at once. I'm pretty confident that it was Bill and Ben who were trying it on with Betty, whose heart belongs to Donald. Donald gallantly fought the other two off and they flew away. The loving couple swam around for a while before getting out of the pool and waddling down to the bottom part of the fenced in area. Were they looking for a nesting site, I wonder?
Some few minutes later, who should fly in again but Bill and Ben. They swam around and it was quite noticeable that they followed the same route that Donald and Betty took earlier, eventually getting out and finding Betty at the bottom of the banking. They chased her back into the pool and tried their luck again. Betty was having none of it. There was no sign of Donald. He will be fuming when he finds out.
