The clocks went back today, and dawn was at 6.19am. I arrived at the pool at 7.00am. The sky looked beautiful with pink tinged clouds.

Birdlife was quite quiet today but I did spot a bird with a conspicuous white rump - possibly a wheatear?

However, exciting news! The #mallards have done the deed. Two mallards regularly visit the pool lets call them Bill and Ben. Occasionally, another male joins them and when he does the other two are crazy excited to see him, so lets call him Donald. On other days a drake and a duck visit, that could be Bill maybe, and Betty..Today, I noticed that Bill and Betty started bobbing their heads up and down, and then - quite suddenly but efficiently, Bill mounted Betty and they had a bit of a thrutch. I do hope that she decides to nest at the pool, but will just have to wait and see.
